Why Law Room Solicitors?

Law Room Solicitors Limited are group litigation specialists, currently acting for clients in 10 Group Litigations. We have successfully acted for client in Product Liability group litigation.

We consider that group claims for motorists who have been charged undisclosed commissions relating to PCP, offers a solution to clients who do not want to use the FCA scheme, if indeed a scheme is introduced, and who do not want to lose any of their compensation in fees to claims management companies or law firms.

We do not charge deductions for our services meaning you retain 100% of any compensation and we limit fees to any monies recovered from the finance providers as part of any group litigation. Group claims can take longer to reach settlement than claims under FCA schemes which are free to use. If eventually claimants wish to proceed through the FCA scheme, we do not charge cancellation fees to any clients.

What is a Car Finance Agreement?

Car finance is usually referred to as PCP Finance. This is the finance arranged usually by a broker who sold the car to you, with a lender who leant you the money to lease the vehicle. A number of these arrangements included commissions which were not disclosed to customers and form the basis of claims for mis sold PCP

Frequently Asked Questions

Brokers and dealers often failed to disclose that they were earning commission from lenders. This happened in three main ways: a discretionary commission arrangement (where the dealer set a higher interest rate to increase their commission), half-secret commission (mentioned in paperwork but the amount wasn’t disclosed), and fully secret commission (not mentioned at all). Any of these could mean you’re owed compensation.

Once you sign up, we run a soft credit check to find any car finance agreements you’ve held — this has no impact on your credit score. If we find agreements, we check with your lender(s) for any unfair or undisclosed commission, and let you know if you could be owed compensation.

The amount of compensation you may be entitled to is dependent on several factors, including the amount of finance your lender provided, the date the finance was taken out, the duration of the agreement, the interest rate you paid and the nature and value of the commission payment your lender made to the car dealership.

We can handle PCP and HP claims against most major lenders — including Black Horse, BMW, Close Brothers, Mercedes, MotoNovo, Santander Consumer Finance, Volkswagen Financial Services, Barclays Partner Finance, Ford Credit and many more. If your lender isn’t listed, start a check and we’ll confirm.

Timeframes depend on the FCA’s redress scheme and how quickly lenders respond, both of which are still developing. It isn’t a quick process, but there’s nothing you need to do once you’ve signed up — we’ll keep you updated at every stage.
