What is a DPF Claim?
In December 2024, the High Court approved a Group Litigation Claim also known as a GLO, for claimant’s who owned certain Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, to join a group court claim against JLR. The claim relates to specific vehicles which are outlined below, and which had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Unfortunately, the DPF which is designed to remove harmful pollutants by filtering them, appears to have failed in these vehicles.
Where the DPF fails to do it’s job correctly, a range of different problems occur. These problems include, the vehicle going into “limp mode2, or the vehicle engine becoming damaged, or frequent requests to change the filter, service the vehicle or run regeneration to clear the filter by driving the vehicle on the motorway to raise the temperature to burn the filter.
Several Diesel vehicles are affected are all registered between 2015 and 2022.

What compensation will be awarded, and what are the fees payable?
We estimate that the average settlement will amount to thousands of pounds of compensation. However, should the claim win, a court will likely calculate and award this amount. This figure will be based on several factors, such as the impact of any damage on you, such as additional costs related to mileage, servicing or repairs, and loss of vehicle value due to a faulty DPF.
As the High Court has ordered a GLO, these claims must go through the court process. This involves significant costs and requires insurance to cover any adverse costs should the case be lost. Due to these high costs, we act for clients on a no-win, no-fee basis. Our fees include a deduction for ATE Insurance, which is required to join this claim. They are limited to 40% of the amount recovered and include the costs of the Insurance policy. If the claim is lost, no fees are payable, provided you comply with the terms of the agreement and Insurance policy. A full description is outlined and highlighted in our paperwork, and you have 14 days to cancel at no charge if you want to end your claim.
The cut-off for joining the Group Claim with Law Room Solicitors Limited is 31 July 2025. After this time, we will be unable to accept further claims (other firms of Solicitors may be able to accept claims after this date, but we will not).
